15 Mar Barclay calls for detail, clarity and accuracy against Italy
Scotland skipper John Barclay has called for ‘detail, clarity and accuracy’ when Italy visit BT Murrayfield this Saturday for the final RBS 6 Nations match of the championship (kick-off 12:30pm) – live on BBC.
He said: “The weekend showed that you have to be meticulous, you have to be able to play with detail, with clarity and accuracy and if you fail to do that then you will get beat.
“You can’t gloss over the deafeat to England. We’ve got to learn from it, take it on the chin, be a man, take our medicine and move on to Italy.
“They always fancy coming to BT Murrayfield. They’ve played some good stuff in this championship and they will undoubtedly be coming here targeting a win.”
Despite their title hopes ending with last week’s loss, there is still plenty at stake for the Dark Blues – a win would see Scotland record three home wins for the first time in their RBS 6 Nations history.
Barclay added: “I’m confident there will be a very positive reaction at the weekend.
“We’ve had a lot of good support throughout the championship especially at BT Murrayfield and we want to finish on a high.
“We can win three from five games and we can finish quite well in the championship table but nobody is expecting anything – we understand how hard it is to win at this level.”
